BEML Limited is a leading metro car manufacturer in the country. BEML has forayed into indigenously Manufacturing of the High-tech Driverless Metro Trains deployed for decongesting city commuting. BEML was the first Company in India to manufacture all Steel Integral Passenger Rail Coaches and other rolling stock to meet the requirements of Indian Railways. Based on the experience in Rail Products for over 50 years, BEML has ventured into manufacturing state of the art Stainless Steel Metro cars since 2002 onwards.

Since inception, BEML has manufactured & supplied over 18,000 nos. mainline passenger coaches of various types for long distance mainline routes of Indian Railways. In addition, BEML has manufactured and supplied over 850 Nos. of Electrical Multiple Units (EMUs) to Indian Railways for use in its sub-urban and mainline routes. BEML has also manufactured and supplied self-propelled equipment, other maintenance vehicles to Indian Railways and 8W-DHTCs (for OHE inspection & maintenance) to Indian Railways and various Metro Corporations of India.

Considering its technical prowess and experience spanning over decades in the manufacturing of Railway Coaches and specialised maintenance vehicles, BEML was also chosen as manufacturing partner for global firms like M/s Loram Maintenance of Way, USA and M/s Adelte Airport Technologies, Spain for their Indian projects of Rail Grinding Machine and Passenger Boarding Bridges respectively.

BEML is also in the process of design, development and supply of 10 rakes of Prestigious Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets which is set to revolutionise the journey experience for passengers of Indian Railways. As on May 2024, BEML has supplied over 2000 Metro Coaches to various Indian Metro Corporations including Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bangalore & Mumbai.

BEML has supplied over 1250 metro cars to Delhi metro rail corporation Ltd., more than 325 metro cars to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. and 84 metro cars to Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. With the experience gained in Design, manufacture, integration and testing of Metro Cars, BEML expanded its footprint in Metro Business and is commanding a dominant market share in India. BEML is also exploring opportunities to supply Rolling stock in Global Market.
